December 8-19, 2020 With Optional Machu Picchu Pre-Trip, December 2-8, 2020
and
Optional Easter Island Pre-trip, December 2-8, 2020
Dear Travelers:
We invite you to join our
Argentina Total Solar Eclipse
Adventure, December 8-19,
2020, with optional pre-trips
to Easter Island or Machu
Picchu in Peru.
Join us and explore the
magnificence of Argentina, from
the premiere city of Buenos Aires
and historic La Plata to San Martin
de Los Andes, and the thundering
wonder of Iguazu Falls.
We will see the Total Solar
Eclipse just north of San Martin de
los Andes on December 14, 2020.
In Buenos Aires, we will explore
the city and have a special visit to
the Galileo Galilei Planetarium in the Parque Tres de
Febrero. The Planetario (as it is known)looks like a UFO, and
also has a collection of meteorites from the north of
Argentina. We'll see the many displays inside and outside of
the Planetario, followed by a introduction to the southern
night skies and discussion of the 2020 Total Solar Eclipse.
At La Plata, we will visit the superb Natural History Museum
which is the outgrowth of Francisco Moreno's collection of
anthropological, fossil, and bone findings in the 1860's. At the
entrance, we will be greeted by two statues of sabre-tooth
cats, which were native to the Pampas of Argentina. Inside
there are vast collections including dinosaur fossils from the
Pampas of Argentina.
Our flight to San Martin de los Andes will take us over the
immense Pampas, to this charming resort town nestled in
the Andes.
We will discover the renowned Argentine Lake Country as we
journey to Huechulafquen Lake and Lanin Volcano, including a
sailing trip on the lake or a hike, plus an outdoor barbecue.
Options await you in San
Martin de los Andes including
kayaking on the lake, biking,
birdwatching, and more.
A highlight of the trip will
be the Total Solar Eclipse on
December 14, 2020. We will travel north of San Martin
de los Andes to watch the eclipse and then have a
celebratory lunch.
Our adventure will continue as we fly to Iguazu Falls
National Park for three nights at the spectacular La Cantera
Jungle Lodge, and see this utterly magnificent waterfall and
park which has a profusion of tropical birdlife.
We will travel with Betchart South America expert, Dr. Tom
Love, and astronomer Dr. TylerNordgren, popular leaders of
our Chile Total Solar Eclipse trip in 2019.
We hope you will join us for this remarkable adventure and
to see the 2020 Total Solar Eclipse!
